Indication:

Technique:
Following the appropriate fasting interval, blood glucose was ___ mg/dl. The patient was injected with ___ millicuries of 18F-FDG (fluorodeoxyglucose) in the left/ right antecubital fossa. Following the appropriate delay interval, PET imaging from the mid brain to the mid thigh was obtained in conjunction with a noncontrasted CT examination for improved localization and attenuation correction. The fused volume set was reviewed utilizing 3-D reconstruction.

Findings:
Brain: Glucose metabolism within the visualized portion of the brain is symmetrical. No focal area of increased glycolytic activity is identified to suggest neoplasm.

Neck: The paired glandular structures and muscles of the neck are symmetrical. No focal area of increased glycolytic activity is identified to suggest neoplasm.

Thorax: Normal physiologic distribution of the fluorodeoxyglucose within the cardiovascular system. No focal areas of increased glycolytic activity are noted in the lung fields or mediastinum to suggest neoplasm.

Abdomen/ Pelvis: Normal physiologic distribution of the fluorodeoxyglucose is demonstrated within the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract. No focal areas of increased glycolytic activity are identified to suggest neoplasm.

Extracavitary soft tissues/ Skeleton: Normal physiologic distribution of the fluorodeoxyglucose is demonstrated. No focal areas of increased glycolytic activity is noted to suggest neoplasm.

Impression:
No areas of discrete uptake or enlarged lymph nodes to suggest distant metastasis.
